Orientation Week (24th July - 31st July, 2023)
The academic year commenced with an insightful Orientation Week designed to welcome and integrate new students into the vibrant intellectual GNLU community. A week-long programme featured informative sessions, interactive workshops, and engaging activities to help students acclimate to the campus environment and academic culture of the institution.
Liberation Day (2nd August 2023)
On this momentous occasion of Liberation Day of Dadar and Nagar Haveli, the campus celebrated the freedom and the spirit of independence. The day included a flag-hoisting ceremony, cultural performances, and a few speeches highlighting the historical significance of this day in the region. The Collector of the region, DNH, Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS hoisted the flag.
Indigenous Day (9th August 2023)
The Indigenous Day celebration was a tribute to our indigenous communities’ rich cultural diversity and heritage. The event featured educational discussion, cultural exhibition, and traditional performances to raise awareness and promote understanding of indigenous cultures.
Independence Day (15th August 2023)
The tricolour adorned the campus, embodying the nation’s unity and freedom. The day began with the unfurling of the national flag by Registrar Dr. Jagadeesh Chandra T. G. The students, faculty, and other staff members gathered to pay homage to the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Cultural performances showcased India’s diverse heritage, instilling a sense of national unity. Speeches by the students emphasized democratic values and progress. This celebration underscored GNLU’s dedication to fostering civic responsibility and pride in being part of a free and democratic nation.
Visit to Gujarat High Court (26th August 2023)
A group of female students had the privilege to visit the Gujarat High Court and witness the appointment of the new Chief Justice, Justice Sunita Agarwal. The visit provided valuable insights into the legal system and court proceedings, enhancing their understanding of the judicial process.
Sports Day (29th August 2023)
The annual Sports Day was a vibrant and energetic event that united the entire campus community. Students, faculty, and staff participated in various sports and athletic activities, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and promoting physical fitness. Honourable Director of GNLU, Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar, and Registrar Dr. Jagadeesh Chandra T. G. graced the occasion with their presence. They emphasised on the importance of being fit and healthy, and encouraged students to make sports as an integral part of their lives.
Freshers Week (30th August - 5th September 2023)
Freshers Week was an exciting and engaging event organized to welcome the new batch of students warmly. The week included various activities, interactive sessions, and cultural performances to help newcomers integrate into the GNLU community and make lasting connections between juniors and seniors.
Janmashtami Celebration (6th September 2023)
The campus rejoiced in the Janmashtami festivities, celebrating Lord Krishna’s birth. The celebration included devotional prayers, cultural performances, and traditional activities, spreading joy and spiritual harmony among the students and faculty of GNLU.
Intra - Moot Court Competition (16th and 17th September 2023)
On 16th and 17th September 2023, the students of Gujarat National Law University, Silvassa campus brimmed with intellectuasl feast during its Intra Moot Court competition. Law students demonstrated their legal acumen in simulated courtroom settings, engaging in dynamic debates on intricate legal issues. A carefully designed moot court problem provided a challenging arena for participants to argue their cases persuasively. Esteemed judges and legal experts assessed performances, offering valuable feedback for growth in legal profession. This competition stoked a spirit of healthy competition and enhanced participants’ understanding of legal principles, reflecting GNLU’s commitment to fostering legal excellence among its students.
Ganesh Chaturthi (19th September 2023)
The day began with a reverent puja to Lord Ganesha, symbolizing new beginnings and prosperity. A finely adorned idol was central to the rituals, surrounded by prayers and hymns. Students united in diverse cultural performances, depicting the festival’s importance in Indian traditions. The event encapsulated cultural appreciation, bonding the GNLU community and highlighting the university’s dedication to embrace diversity and fostering a sense of togetherness.
